Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a SNRI (selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) used to treat depression and a number of other conditions as prescribed by your health care provider. Sometimes people taking this medicine can become suicidal (have thoughts about hurting themselves). This symptom is found in people younger than 24 more often, which is why if you are 24 and younger your health care provider will want to see you more often during the first couple of months of your treatment. Your health care provider may recommend taking Cymbalta once or twice a day with some food or without. Even if the instructions of your health care provider are different from the instruction that comes with the medicine, you need to follow the ones given to you by your health care professional.
